Hreflang Validator
Instantly analyze your international targeting. We'll scan your HTML for hreflang tags, verify self-referencing links, check for x-default fallbacks, and highlight critical SEO errors.
Why check your hreflang tags?
Implementing hreflang tags is notoriously difficult. If you make a mistake, Google might completely ignore your international targeting, leading to the wrong language version ranking in different countries. This tool helps you quickly spot common errors.
What does this tool check for?
- Presence of Tags: Ensures the page actually has
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="...">tags. - Self-Referencing Tags: Verifies that there is at least one tag that points back to the exact URL you are testing. Without this, the entire set may be invalidated.
- x-default Fallback: Checks if you have designated a default page for unmatched languages. While optional, it is highly recommended by Google.
- Syntax Errors: Checks for basic syntax formatting in the ISO codes (e.g., ensuring you don't use underscores like
en_USinstead ofen-US).
Note: This tool checks the HTML source of the page. It does not crawl the alternative URLs to check for bidirectional return tags.
