What is an Apple Touch Icon?
When a user visits your website on an iPhone or iPad and taps "Add to Home Screen", iOS looks for a specific file named apple-touch-icon.png. If it finds one, it uses it as the app icon on the home screen. If it doesn't, it takes a tiny, ugly screenshot of your page.
iOS Icon Requirements
- Size: Exactly 180x180 pixels.
- No Transparency: iOS does not support transparent icons. Any transparency will be rendered as black. This tool allows you to set a solid background color to prevent this.
- No Rounded Corners: You must provide a square image. iOS automatically applies the standard "squircle" mask to your icon.
