What is app-ads.txt?

app-ads.txt (Authorized Digital Sellers for Apps) is an IAB initiative that extends the ads.txt standard to mobile and connected TV apps. It helps app developers declare who is authorized to sell their digital ad inventory.

How does it work?

Ad networks and DSPs crawl the developer website listed in your app's store listing (e.g., Google Play or App Store) to find your app-ads.txt file. The file must be placed at the root of the domain (e.g., https://example.com/app-ads.txt).

Required Syntax

Each line requires at least 3 comma-separated fields, exactly like a regular ads.txt file:

  1. Domain of the advertising system: (e.g., google.com).
  2. Publisher's Account ID: (e.g., pub-123456789).
  3. Type of Account: Must be either DIRECT or RESELLER.
  4. Certification Authority ID (Optional)
